Number of Italian migrants to the United States 1881-1931

In the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, the United States was one of the main destinations for Italian emigrants. The largest number of people leaving Italy for the U.S. was registered in the first two decades of the twentieth century, particularly in 1906, before a sharp decline occurred in 1914 due to the First World War.
In 2019, the U.S. was still one of the main destinations for Italians. More specifically, 4.7 percent of all Italians moving abroad went to the United States.
