Chukotka Autonomous Okrug located in the Far Eastern federal district of Russia was the country's federal subject with the highest median monthly salary as calculated between September 2018 and August 2019, exceeding 78 thousand Russian rubles. The second leading region was Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug in the Ural federal district, where the median wage was 75.5 thousand Russian rubles per month.
