Maternal mortality in Cuba 2022, by direct cause
Hemorrhages were the leading direct cause of maternal mortality in Cuba in 2022, accounting for around 7.3 deaths per 100,000 live births. It was followed by postpartum complications and hypertensive disorders, which had a rate of approximately 6.3 and 3.1 deaths per 100,000 live births. That year, Guantánamo was the Cuban province with the highest maternal mortality rate.
