Collisions with cars were the most common bicycle related traffic accidents recorded in 2019 in Japan, with almost 66 thousand occurrences. That year, around 2,692 cases were self-induced accidents without the involvement of a second party. Overall, approximately 80 thousand road accidents involving bicycles were reported in Japan during the measured time period.
