In 2019, there were more than nine thousand publicly accessibly fast and slow chargers for electric vehicles in South Korea. Over six thousand were slow chargers. The Korean government is offering subsidies of 35 million South Korean won (approximately 28,700 U.S. dollars) for fast chargers, and 3.5 million won (around 2,870 dollars) for slow chargers. Private slow chargers receive even less in subsidies, only around 1.3 million won (around 1,070 dollars). Fast chargers cannot be owned by private individuals.

Note: Fast charger refers to chargers that provide power higher than 22 kW, including AC chargers rated at up to 43 kW, DC chargers, Tesla Superchargers and inductive chargers. Slow charger refers to chargers that provide power between 3.4 kW and 22 kW.
