Mexico: number of international tourist arrivals 2019-2020, by mode of transport
In April 2020, Mexico saw a drop in the monthly number of international visitors arriving in the country by air and by road. That month, 55.3 thousand foreign visitors traveled to the North American country by land and even less did so by air. This shows a decrease of nearly 93 percent in the number of foreign tourists in the country when compared to the previous month, and a 95.5 percent decrease in relation to the same month in 2019. This fall in inbound tourism in Mexico was associated to the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting global lockdown.
