According to a survey conducted in January 2020 among business enterprises in Japan, almost 61 percent of companies experiencing a severe labor shortage of full-time employees stated that they planned to increase base salaries in order to attract and keep employees. Companies that experienced a severe labor shortage were more likely to raise salaries than less affected companies.
