UK hospitality: opinion on a points-based immigration system post-Brexit 2020

Leaders in the hospitality sector generally felt that an Australian-style points-based system for immigration would be a negative for the industry. Brexit has had a detrimental affect on many restaurant and hotel businesses that relied on EU migrants to fill skill gaps and hard-to-fill vacancies. From 2021, EU workers will no longer have the right to freedom of movement in the United Kingdom. A proposed points-based system for such immigrants was considered negative by 41 percent of industry respondents, compared to 21 percent who thought it would be positive. The rest were neutral.

Do you think that an Australian-style points-based system for immigration would be positive or negative for the hospitality industry?
