Total investment insurance companies Europe 2021

In the fourth quarter of 2021, the insurance industry in France saw the highest value of investment in Europe, followed by Germany and Italy. Combined, the insurance market in the three countries accounted for over five trillion out of the seven trillion euros worth of investment (other than assets held for index-linked and unit-linked contracts) in Europe. This includes investment in property other than for own use, holdings in related undertakings, such as participations, equities, bonds, collective investment undertakings, derivatives, deposits, cash investments and other investments. For many of the countries, life insurance was the leading segment in terms of investments.
