Total expenses non-life insurance in Europe by country 2018

Non-life insurance includes property, motor, accident, general liability, legal, marine, aviation and transit insurance. In 2018, the insurance companies in Germany's non-life segment registered the highest total expenses at approximately 35.8 billion euros. Expense ratios indicate how total expenses relate to premiums earned. While Germany, France and the United Kingdom (UK) are the largest non-life insurance markets, the Netherlands, Iceland and Liechtenstein are the ones with the lowest expense ratios.
