After the Basel III committee meeting, all banks in Europe were required to meet a minimum requirement for total capital ratio of eight percent. The total capital ratio is the total capital held by a bank divided by it's risk-weighted assets. As of March, all countries in Europe met the minimum requirements of eight percent. The highest total capital ratio among European countries was recorded in Iceland (24 percent).
