In 2018, consumer goods accounted for a 28 percent share of the total global demand for bio-based polymers. In 2023, it is expected to increase to a 30 percent share of the total demand for bio-based polymers. As global plastic consumption becomes an increasing environmental issue, the use of alternatives such as bio-based plastics is expected to increase.
