According to a survey conducted from July to August 2019 among managers of medical facilities in Japan, around 66 percent of respondents who were self-employed established the medical institution they managed themselves. Approximately 64 percent of respondents who managed one-doctor corporations founded those corporations themselves. Roughly 55 percent of respondents who managed medical corporations, on the other hand, inherited the institutions from their family.
Clinics with only one to two doctors or dentists can be approved by the government as one-doctor medical corporations, which hold the same legal rights as medical corporations with three or more doctors or dentists.
