According to the World Health Organization the whole of Europe was declared polio-free in 2002, although vaccination of the disease among children must be maintained for this to continue. In 2018, 99.9 percent of children in Hungary received a polio vaccination, followed by a vaccination rate of 98 percent in Turkey. In Ukraine, on the other hand, only 71 percent of children had received a polio vaccination in this year.
