Rate of hepatitis B cases in Europe 2018, by country

Latvia had the highest notification rate of hepatitis B in Europe in 2018 with 13.44 cases per 100,000 population, followed by Austria with a notification rate of approximately 12.8. The rate of infection across the whole of the EEA was 4.46 per 100,000 in this year. The hepatitis B virus causes liver disease in an infected person, although prevention of this disease is available through childhood vaccinations.
