U.S. biodiesel consumption by state 2018

Texas is by far the leading biodiesel consumer in the United States. In 2018, Texans consumed some 7.9 million barrels of the biofuel type, some 17 percent of the nation's total. This is unsurprising given that the state's governmental fleets are required to run on alternative fuel and Texans make the longest car journeys after Californians. The Lone Star State was also the second leading biodiesel producer that year, at 5.4 million barrels. Iowa ranked first, it being the leading corn and soybean producer.
