Local authority plastic packaging collection rates in the UK 2010-2021, by type
In 2021, there were 374 local authorities in the United Kingdom, of which all provided a kerbside collection service that included plastic bottles. Between 2010 and 2021, the share of UK local authorities collecting plastic pots, tubs, and trays at kerbsides increased from 28 percent to 88 percent. Although the collection services for most types of plastic packaging materials has increased over the past decade, the share of local authorities collecting plastic film has been decreasing in recent years, and dropped to just 13 percent in 2021.
