According to a survey among Indian urban youth about life in lockdown, a majority of people stated that their work hours were reduced due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in April 2020. Chennai had the highest share of respondents among other cities with about 17 percent whose wages were reduced. Over five percent of urban youth respondents lost their jobs at that time.
