Number of asylums granted in Denmark 2012-2022
A total of 1,403 asylums were granted in Denmark in 2022. The number of asylums granted peaked amidst the refugee situation in 2015. That year, 10,849 people were granted asylum in Denmark. Since then, the number of successful grants of asylum in the Scandinavian country has decreased steadily as a result of stricter asylum regulations implemented by the government, because migration routes through Southern Europe are closed, and because of COVID-19 in 2020. It is a stated target of the Danish government that no asylum seekers shall arrive in the country.
