Almost all spending on snow networks, equipment and water resources is for the purpose of creating artificial snow. In 2017, in the ski resorts of the department of l'isère located in the French Alps, this expenditure represented nearly 50 million euros, or nearly 27 percent of the total expenditure.
However, the largest expenditures remained for the construction and maintenance of ski lifts.
