In the first quarter of 2019, around two thirds of equity investors who fund co-working operators, as well as traditional office landlords believed that the coworking sector would consolidate through M&A activity over the following three years (67 percent). 57 percent of lenders believed this would only happen to a moderate degree. Consolidating through mergers and acquisitions (M&A) refers to companies combining with each other through financial transactions such as tender offers, management acquisitions, mergers, consolidations, and purchase of assets.

Survey respondents consist of 100 senior executives (coworking operators, equity investors who fund coworking operators and/or coworking funds, traditional landlords, lenders and brokers). 75 respondents were based in the United States, with the rest based in the United Kingdom and Europe.
