Manufacturing industries and construction was the largest source of PM2.5 emissions in the United Kingdom in 2021, accounting for 26 percent of the total. Domestic combustion was the second largest source, of which wood fires were the biggest contributor. Wood fire's share of total PM2.5 emissions has increased considerably over the past three decades.
