COVID-19 impact on revPAR in hotels across India 2018-2024
Hoteliers in India assumed a revenue per available room (RevPAR) of 1,675 Indian rupees for 2020. This was a decrease by nearly 60 percent compared to the previous year. Reasons for the significant decrease were lockdowns and travel restrictions imposed due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Before the pandemic, RevPAR in hotels across India was at nearly 4,000 Indian rupees. Nevertheless, hoteliers had been optimistic about the recovery of their businesses. They anticipated to reach the pre-pandemic level by 2022 or 2023.
