As of 2021, the total consumption of natural gas in Africa amounted to roughly 5,185 billion cubic feet. Egypt and Algeria were by far the largest natural gas consumers on the continent, with over 2,116 billion cubic feet and 1,6664 billion cubic feet, respectively. This represented a huge part of the consumption in the continent at 40.8 percent and 32.1 percent, respectively. Nigeria followed, consuming approximately 15 percent of the total African consumption.
