In 2021, breast augmentation was the leading breast cosmetic surgery in Japan, with about 4.1 thousand surgical procedures. Breast implant removal followed, amounting to around 1.4 thousand surgeries. That year, an overall total of approximately 6.1 thousand breast cosmetic surgeries were performed in the country.
