U.S. public knowledge about breastfeeding reducing breast cancer risks as of 2018
According to a 2018 survey, only 1 in 4 adults knew that breastfeeding reduces the risk of breast cancer in women. Additionally, just 1 in 7 knew that breastfeeding also reduces the risk of high blood pressure. Breastfeeding has indeed been linked to a reduced risk of the mother later developing breast cancer, ovarian cancer, high blood pressure, and type II diabetes.
