Decisions on health care among women in Africa 2007-2018, by country
Worldwide, about 25 percent of women are not free to make decisions on their own health care. The situation in Western and Central Africa is particularly concerning, as the rates are the lowest in the world. According to a recent study, only two in ten women in Niger had the power to decide on their health care, which was the lowest rate in Africa and in the world. In Mali, the percentage of women who could make this decision for themselves amounted to 22, the second lowest shares in Africa and worldwide.
