Clean cooking fuels and technology access rate in Ghana 2000-2020
In 2020, the access rate of the population in Ghana to clean cooking fuels and cooking technology stood at 22 percent. The rate increased from six percent in 2000. In 2019, over 23 million people in the country had no access to clean cooking, which was a very high number considering the estimated total population of the country.
A report has revealed that over three billion people in developing countries rely on coal and traditional biomass to meet their cooking energy needs. Heavy reliance on these, however, often results in exposure to indoor air pollution, which leads to premature deaths.
