Final Fantasy lifetime series unit sales 2014-2022

In September 2022, the Final Fantasy video game series had generated approximately 173 million lifetime unit sales, making it one of the most popular gaming franchises worldwide. The main series consists of mainly fantasy or science fantasy roleplaying games, but also includes tactical RPGs, massively multiplayer online role-playing (MMO) games, and mobile titles. Final Fantasy games are numbered and whereas the stories in the game are individual to the numbered entry, there are certain Final Fantasy concepts that appear throughout the metaseries. The most recently published numbered mainline entry is Final Fantasy XV, which was released for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in late 2016, and Microsoft Windows in early 2018. Publisher Square Enix has already announced Final Fantasy XVI but no release date has been revealed so far.
