Tomb Raider lifetime series unit sales 2014-2022
As of May 2022, action adventure series Tomb Raider had generated approximately 88 million lifetime unit sales, up from 60 million unit sales in November 2017. Originally owned by Eidos Interactive, then by Square Enix Europe after Square Enix's acquisition of Eidos in 2009, the franchise focuses on fictional archaeologist Lara Croft, who travels the words exploring tombs and searching for lost artefacts while fighting enemies and navigating dangerous environments. In 2013, the series received a reboot, which was simply named Tomb Raider. The resulting Survivor Trilogy was critically acclaimed and includes some of the best-selling games of the series. The most recent mainline entry of the series, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, was released in 2018. In May 2022, Square Enix sold three top studios, including Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montréal, plus the Tomb Raiser and Deus Ex franchises to the Embracer Group.
