According to a survey conducted in January 2022 in Japan, the leading reason to postpone or cancel domestic leisure trips in Japan during December 2021 was to avoid the risk of contracting COVID-19 oneself. This was the leading reason in Japan for suspending domestic trips since the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic, regardless of the surveyed month.
