
Change in truck drivers in selected European countries 2016-2020
Luxembourg witnessed the sharpest relative decline in truck drivers between 2016 and 2020: 16.6 percent of drivers, 500 in total, left the occupation. In absolute terms, the United Kingdom was hit the hardest: 46,000 lorry drivers left the road between 2016 and 2020. Concurrently, Romania added more than 50,000 heavy goods vehicle drivers during the same time period.
