Medicaid income eligibility for adults in expanded states, which is usually 138% FPL, Medicaid or CHIP eligibility varies widely depending on the state and on the age of the child. This can range from as low as 142% FPL in Louisiana to 380% FPL in Iowa among 0 to 1 year old infants. Separate CHIP eligibility (for children whose household income is too high for Medicaid) is usually much higher in states that offer this as sometimes premiums and co-payments are required.
