Number of same-sex marriages Luxembourg 2015-2021, by sex

Following the legalization of same-sex marriages in Luxembourg on January 1, 2015, 139 same sex couples got married in in that year, of which 90 were between males and 49 were between females. Subsequently the number marriages went down significantly. There were a total of 65 same-sex marriages in 2016 which is 74 lower than in 2015. In 2021 there was a total of 36 same-sex marriages, of which 11 were between males and 25 were between females. Notably, in every year since same-sex marriages were legalized, there have been more male same-sex marriages than female same-sex marriages until the most recent time period.
