Number of new same-sex cohabitations in Belgium 2021, by region
In 2021, over 1,400 cohabitation declarations have been made in Belgium by two people of the same gender. Such declaration entitles the cohabitants certain legal protection, in terms of protecting the accommodation, cohabitation costs, liability to certain debts.
br>The population of Belgium is unevenly spread in its three regions, correspondingly, the number of cohabitation declarations is unevenly spread from one region to another. For instance, 809 declarations were made in Flanders, whereas 426 declarations were made in Wallonia and even fewer in the Brussels-capital Region.
