In 2021, there were around 12 fetal deaths per 1,000 births among women in the United States aged 35 to 39 years who used tobacco during their pregnancy, a significantly higher number compared to less than six fetal deaths per 1,000 births among women in the same age group who did not use tobacco during their pregnancy.
