In a 2021 survey, 91 percent of respondents indicated that they believe that doctors should have the right to prescribe medicine. Compared with other professions that were not able to prescribe medicine, almost 50 percent believed that pharmacists should have the right to prescribe and almost a third felt that midwives should be able to prescribe medicine.
