Gender equality in unpaid care work in West Africa 2019, by country
As of 2019, gender equality in Nigeria achieved a score of 0.66 in terms of unpaid care work. The country registered the highest score compared to the other countries in West Africa. This meant that, although both men and women undertook unpaid care work, the gender gap was most likely to be bridged in the country, in such a way that women were not the most unfavored. Moreover, Sierra Leone and Benin followed, in that, the parity indicator reached 0.33 and 0.32 points, respectively. According to the indicator, a score of one indicates total parity between men and women - the closer it is to one, the closer it is to closing up the gender gap.
