Fuel pump price breakdown in Germany 2020
One liter of diesel cost around 110.7 eurocents to car drivers in Germany in 2020. This meant that over 56 percent of the price of one liter of diesel went into taxes, with excise duties costing on average 47.04 eurocents. During that same period, 65 percent of the price for one liter of super went into taxes. In March 2022, the German government announced measures to reduce fuel tax, including reducing taxes by 14 cents per liter for diesel and 30 cents per liter for gasoline.
