Horse production volume in South Africa 2010-2020
The production volume of slaughtered horses in South Africa amounted to nearly 7.06 thousand heads. This was an increase from around seven thousand heads in the previous year. During the period under review, the number of slaughtered horses in the country peaked in 2011 at 10.5 thousand heads, before dropping gradually to the lowest at 6.7 thousand in 2014. Since then, the number of slaughtered horses slightly increased yearly.
