Climate change news coverage perspectives worldwide 2022
A report asking news and publishing industry leaders about climate journalism found that 11 percent of respondents believed that their news organization's coverage of climate change was bad, whereas over 60 percent felt they were doing a good job in this respect. Respondents were more likely to have the attitude that their organization does a good job of covering climate change, which the source pointed out highlights the need for a more collective approach when reporting on the topic in order to drive audience engagement. The report also noted that respondents named some barriers to better climate change coverage. One was the expense of traveling to far-off places for original coverage, whilst another was audiences' reluctance to engage with depressing content.
