Number of regulation crowdfunding deals in the United States 2016-2022
What is the regulation crowdfunding?
Until May 2016, only accredited investors could invest in startup companies in their early stages. This changed, when President Obama signed the JOBS Act into law in 2012. The last section of the JOBS Act is known as regulation crowdfunding, or Reg CF, which allows eligible companies to offer and sell securities through crowdfunding. Reg CF empowered non-accredited investors (in other words: the public) to invest in eligible companies through crowdfunding. Reg CF was enacted in May 2016.
