
Gross electricity generation in Germany 2000-2021, by energy source
In 2021, 238 terawatt hours of gross electricity in Germany were generated from renewable energy sources. This corresponds to around 41 percent of all electricity generated in the country. Over the course of the past 20 years, the share of power generation from renewable energies has increased significantly. At the same time, hard coal and nuclear energy in particular recorded a significant decline.
