Carbon price implementation likelihood in Asia-Pacific by country

Among Asia-Pacific countries, Japan was considered the most likely to implement a carbon price (covering at least the power sector) by 2026, according to a survey of International Emissions Trading Association members. While 23 percent of respondents felt a carbon price in Japan would be implemented by 2023, 31 percent expected one to be implemented by 2026. Taiwan was the second most likely country to implement a carbon price by 2026, according to 40 percent of respondents. In comparison, 42 percent of respondents didn't expect coverage in Bangladesh.
