As of 2019, there were significantly more men employed as sworn school resource officers than women in law enforcement agencies in the United States, including within local police, sheriffs' offices, and school district police. The greatest difference was reported within sheriffs' offices, where 83.5 percent of sworn school resource officers were male while 16.5 percent were female.
