In 2022, more than half of the local internet shutdowns were based on political turmoil. On the other hand, Nationwide internet shutdowns were mainly caused by protests. Approximately 70 percent of social media or VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) restrictions were derived from political turmoil.
