In 2022, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), had operating costs exceeding 14 billion U.S. dollars. The IRS is the agency responsible for collecting U.S. federal taxes, and administering the tax law. In 2022, the Biden administration allocated an additional 79.4 billion U.S. dollars in funding with the aim of improving taxpayer services, modernization, and enforcement.
