Japan: value of REIT holdings by investor 2023

As of August 2023, financial institutions held real estate investment trusts worth around nine trillion Japanese yen in Japan. The REIT holdings of foreign investors amounted to 3.8 trillion yen. The Japanese real estate investment trust (J-REIT) market was established in 2001 and is one of the largest in the world.
