In 2022, 109 significant ransomware attacks were detected in Europe, marking a 46 percent drop from 203 known major ransomware attacks in the previous year. Meanwhile, the figures do not represent overall number of ransomware attacks in the region. Furthermore, in 2022 small and medium enterprises (SMEs) remained the primary target for ransomware actors.
