Change in the water use of GRESB buildings worldwide 2020-2022, by region
Water consumption in the real estate sector declined for three years in a row across almost all regions worldwide, based on data from the GRESB. Asia was the only region where water use picked up in 2022, with real estate companies consuming 2.62 percent more water than a year ago. Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB) is an industry-led organization that collects, validates, scores, and benchmarks ESG performance. ESG benchmarking has been a growing trend among real estate companies worldwide, with the number of companies participating in GRESB benchmark increasing year-on-year since 2013.
